Recycled food?

Well, CQ would term it as an engineered food or short-cuts - it's CQ's expertise in CQ's very own humble kitchen huhu. Anyway, it is more like you turn your last night's leftover food into something creative.

Here's an example. You have a plate of shredded prata or some called it murtabak. What would you do with it?

Another instance is the bread that the locals like to 'cecah' (dip) with satay's gravy. Then, what happen to this bowl of leftover bread?

Some would feed the birds ...and maybe some will send to the bin ehh - so before you throw food away, always have some thoughts of how people especially children in the third world countries are starving, malnourished and in order to live they will have to look for food in rubbish bins or dumping grounds.. if there are any!

With these two leftover food, CQ turned them into CQ's very own 'Norbi' dish ...yup! the same 'Norbi' that you can find in the menu list of C.A.M. Restaurant. Don't believe? Go check it out!

CQ does not know what 'Norbi' means but looking at the dish itself, it is more like fried prata huhu ...power of simplicity out of imagination! huh?

Ingredients
1 onion- chopped
3 garlic cloves -chopped
1 tomato - chopped
2tsps - chilli powder
2 limau kasturi - take the juice
1 tbsp of sweet black sauce
2 tbsps of chilli chicken rice - this gives the spicy tangy taste
3 eggs
2 tbsps of oil and salt to taste

Here's how you cook ...just like how CQ cooked this! The ingredients are almost 90% the same but the taste is so different. You can be more creative by adding roasted potatoes, leftover chickens pieces, seafood like crab, squid or anything that's edible of course huhu.

Try it before you comment ok! LOLS ..

shortcuts II

CQ's next post is actually not about food but since it is not ready yet, CQ wants to share another shortcut with you hehehe ...CQ always has shortcuts :)

It is easy to prepare as CQ was inspired by the way BinAzmi (above) sauteed his ladies finger like a circus trick during our family's ambuyat affair last 27 April 2008 ...but CQ did some modification hahaha ...macam tukar sport rim huhu

Ingredients:
10-15 pieces of ladies fingers - cleaned
3 cloves garlic - sliced
1tbsp olive oil
a dash of black pepper - optional

How you cook:
Heat up olive oil in a pan. Saute garlic till fragrant and brown (err the picture showed burnt garlic - well its crispy not hangus); then add ladies fingers and saute again. A minute later add a dash of black pepper and saute well till half cook. Serve hot ...uuhhhhh la la

p.s. when you saute - means you toss and flip the items in your pan.

shortcuts

Sometimes, thinking what to cook and taking time to prepare seem to be an everyday challenge. When that happens, I will always end up doing food engineering or modifying recipes ...lols.

Today I will share with you a simple already-engineered chicken curry hehehe ...easy to follow, just as my dad would say - 'masak cemplang cemplung' ..literally it means 'fuss-free cooking'.

Ingredients:
1kg of chicken parts - cleaned
1 big onion - wedged or sliced
2 potatoes - wedged
1 packet of Ayam brand FISH curry paste (not the powder one)
1 cube of chicken stock - optional
1/4 tsp of 'isi asam jawa' (tamarind)
1 small packet of coconut milk - optional or water

What you must do:
Heat up 1 tsp of oil in wok and stir fry the fish curry paste for a few minutes. Then add chicken parts, tamarind, chicken cube stock and coconut milk or 1 cup of water.

Simmer for 10 minutes. Then add the cut potatoes and onion. Cook to taste. Serve with hot rice, pita bread or prata :) it's finger-licking delicious huhu ..
