Cuddly pandas

A friend emailed CQ these photos of cuddly pandas that are bred in China. Pandas are said to be a symbol of peace in China and probably around the globe too.

Considered endangered species, pandas are on the verge of extinction all around the world.

Female pandas are called sows, males are called boars and the young ones are called cubs.

Pandas are mammals. They have large heads, heavy body, rounded ears and short tails.

Escargot anyone?

Mak Oiii ... Besar nya siput babi nie!!!

Have you ever seen such a gigantic garden snail? Yikes! This not-really-cute snail could measure up to about 14 cm or 6.5 inches in length.

Oh goodness gawd! look at that frontal view! CQ thought it was the mouth but it was not. At a zoomed-in-closer look, the garden snail was actually slithering its way to wherever it was going to ...most probably jalan-jalan cari makan or the nearby book expo huhu

CQ found it when CQ was walking along the roadside near the Singapore Expo Halls. Hmmm the snail must have missed the book expo when it reached the expo hall doors hee hee ...

Do animals fast?

hmmm CQ caught this monitor lizard not fasting eh ...huhu it was eating some food that had been littered onto the road.

It must have be been embarrassed after realising CQ had snap-clicked that it quickly slithered its way into the nearby bushes next to the road.

gentle reminder =)

The above sign board literally means
'do not dare to play truant-fasting' =)

*puase ~ it's a Malay slang for puasa which means fasting

new species??

After we had our hearty lunch at Kampong Mata-mata, Kimchi spotted this weird looking insect on a metal frame, that was displayed outside an interior-deco shop.

CQ noticed that its feelers closed up together when being 'threathened' by potential predators like CQ :) ...yeah CQ was zooming in on this little creature.

But the feelers opened up when CQ had done with the snap-click ..hmmm as if it knew when to pose for CQ's camera :))

Look at the eyes ...they are flattened out! It's body is like a blown-up triangular shape and it gives you the creepy looks of an alien :)

Okay...is it a new or an endangered species of insects?? hmmm

Simply clever

A stranger was seated next to a little girl on the airplane when the stranger turned to her and said, 'Let's talk. I've heard that flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger.'

The little girl, who had just opened her book, closed it slowly and said to the stranger, 'What would you like to talk about?'

'Oh, I don't know,' said the stranger. 'How about nuclear power?' and he smiles.

'OK, ' she said. 'That could be an interesting topic. But let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff - grass . Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps of dried grass. Why do you suppose that is?'

The stranger, visibly surprised by the little girl's intelligence, thinks about it and says, 'Hmmm, I have no idea.'

To which the little girl replies, 'Do you really feel qualified to discuss nuclear power when you don't know sh*t?

...oohhhh man! how embarrassing it can be ..to be an adult when talking to smart kidz ...kwang kwang kwang :)

Art tree

Yet another unknown mysterious species of tree is found in the close proximity of a hermitage deep in the dense forest in 'Andra Pradesh' in India.

A closer look at the bark, you will see an unbelievable figures of creatures artistically engraved or crafted on the surface of the entire tree trunk! It is absolutely real.

Who would have the time to do that or just being creative with crafty skills. Animals like scorpions, birds, alligator, monkeys, spiders, snakes and many more are being tatoo-engraved on the massive tree trunk that looks like a 'Baobab' tree that is knowned to have the largest tree trunks in the world.

A night stay near the tree, you will get to see elves busy-ing themselves crafting and engraving on the tree trunk and singing all night long...uuhhhh just my imagination huhu :)

Si Cangkir

It was about a month ago when Bigboss, Kimchi and myself went for breakfast at one KB foodstall that is operated by one of the Arab-Families' aunt.

I was ordering the food when I heard Kimchi was calling out for 'someone' in her Bruneian accent :P

Kimchi: Mana ko si cangkir ..pusss pusss cangkirrrr

I went huh?? In my thoughts at that time, I was asking who is 'cangkir'? I have heard the word 'cangkir' before but somehow the meaning did not click to my mind ...lapar kali ahh (too hungry- lols)

So I asked Kimchi who she was looking for and calling 'cangkir'. She pointed to a skinny black cat!

So this is 'si Cangkir'! A black cat! lols ...

In the standard Malay language, 'cangkir' means 'cawan' ...literally in English language means 'a mug'. In Brunei language, it means 'kurus' ..which if you translate literally in English, it means 'thin'. Wow! A mug of thin cat? heheee..

Anyway, 'si Cangkir' has since been putting on some weights to his thin frame ..and got himself a soulmate! hahaha

Now, this one gave me that pity look ...to have her photo on my blog ..lols. I think I will name these two cats Kit & Kat hehehe :D

Ah Meng in memory

Famed icon orang hutan, Ah Meng, died yesterday due to old age. The celebrated orang hutan rose to stardom when she became the star attraction at the Singapore Zoo's "Breakfast with an Orang Hutan" programme. She was 48.

The ever friendly and humble grand dame had rubbed shoulders with many visitors to the Zoo, even foreign dignitaries and famous pop stars...even me, back in the late 80's when I strike a post with her during a photo-taking shoot. Ah Meng leaves behind 4 children and 6 grandchildren.

Ah Meng

with her family

replica of Ah Meng (right :D)

During my last December holidays, I did visit the Singapore Zoo with Kimchi and her cousins. Unfortunately, due to her health we were not able to see Ah Meng nor take pictures of her; but we instead took pictures with her replica. Personally, I think she is a legend in her very own ways.
