Good advice

Here's one good advice that CQ would like to share. It is a short information CQ got from an anonymous fan huhu ..yet it is useful in our daily life.

Since the festives season is just around the corner, this advice comes so handy and at the right time. Upon starting your car engine, air out your car before turning on the aircon. Open the windows after you enter your car.

According to research done by a U.C. , the car dashboard, sofa, air freshener will emit Benzene, a cancer causing toxin (carcinogen). In addition to causing cancer, it will poison your bones, causes anemia and reduces white blood cells. Prolonged exposure will cause leukemia, increasing the risk of cancer. It may also cause miscarriage and other health effects.

Acceptable Benezene level for indoors is 50 mg per sq. ft. A car parked indoors with all the windows closed will contain between 400-800 mg of Benezene. If the car is parked outdoors under the sun at a temperature above 60 degrees F, the Benezene level goes up to 2000-4000 mg, that is 40 times the acceptable level. The people inside the car will inevitably inhale an excess amount of the toxin.

It is recommended that you open the windows and door of your car to give time for the interior to air out before you enter. Benzene is a toxin that affects your kidney and liver, and is difficult for your body to expel.

p.s ~ some portions of the article have been edited by CQ due to its unforgiving grammar =)

Hi,

I am trying to verify the validity of this statement. I got this email and see the same text repeated many times over in various blogs but never could find the source of such a research or whether it was done by a reputable research house. Were you able to verify the information yourself?

Hi David,

Thank you for not being anonymous and dropping by my blog.

Hmmm i can't verify the said statement; but a couple of individuals did advise me to make a point to air my car before i on the aircon, esp on hot weather and i did.
