Sunset in North Sea

CQ's friend - Atwood Falcon, who works in the offshore oil and gas industry, took this beautiful and breathtaking sunset in the North Sea.

Where is North Sea?
According to Wiki - ' The North Sea is a marginal, epeiric sea of the Atlantic Ocean on the European continental shelf. It is more than 600 miles (970 km) long and 350 miles (560 km) wide, with an area of around 222,000 square miles (570,000 km2).

A large part of the European drainage basin empties into the North Sea including water from the Baltic Sea. The North Sea connects with the rest of the Atlantic through the Dover Strait and the English Channel in the south and through the Norwegian Sea in the north...'

This is how it looks like under the sea in the offshore oil and gas field

In the oil industry, "North Sea" often refers to a larger geographical set, including areas such as the Norwegian Sea and the UK "Atlantic Margin" (west of Shetland) not, strictly speaking, part of the North Sea. WOW!!!

In the middle of Indian Ocean ..

CQ got an unexpected email from a friend who was a team mate during our softball years in Singapore. Wow ..it has been quite sometime that CQ got news from Lat Mat and his family.

Due to the nature of his job, Lat Mat travels a lot to countries all over the world. He is not a seaman nor has anything to do with the sea ...he is just following an oil rigger and doing his own job. Must be a free ride or hitch-a-hike on the ocean ...huhu.

Anyway, this is the oil rigger that Lat Mat is following ..on the way to Mauritius. Now he is in the middle of Indian Ocean and he is sooo bored ..nothing to see but only sea water. It is his first experience on board ship while working.

The oil rigger left the Jurong Shipyard on the 6th April and probably will reach Mauritius on the 28th April ...woooh that's in about five days. Lat Mat will fly back to Singapore instead of continuing the trip to Mexico ..or else he will go crazy lols...

Well, Lat Mat can 'cure' his boredom by fishing on board the oil rigger. In my younger days when my brothers and myself had the opportunity to follow our father on the high seas, we would see him fishing. You can get many big fish and I mean really BIG!

If there are freezers on board the oil rigger, CQ is sure the length are 4 times the large-size of the normal kitchen freezer.

The WSIDA Crew

Lat Mat said the best part is that he can make calls to his family using the satellite phone and is able to excess to Internet ...if not life is meaningless on board the oil rigger ...hehehe.

Well, CQ hope Lat Mat will have a safe sailing and enjoy the last leg of his journey to Mauritius on board the oil rigger. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
