Tax free

CQ was surfing through the net this morning when CQ saw this article about an A-list Hollywood star who was sentenced to 3 years jail term for tax convictions. Wow!

Read here for more of the story ... You may be a highly prolific person but that does not mean you can evade any rules or tax in this matter ..huhu

After reading the article, it reminded of those yester-years when CQ obediently had to fill up the SG Income Tax forms on every year end and had to submit on time to avoid getting a fine.

Unfortunately, it was in 1993 when CQ got this fine slip from the SG CPF Board. A fine of S$100.00 for failing to file 1992's income tax return. Oh well, CQ thought that once CQ migrated and had submitted letters to support, it will be automatically be informed or relayed to all relevant bodies of any individuals that are not contributing to their CPF ...CQ was wrong!

Anyway, CQ paid the fine but sought help to counter-back the fine in 1994, knowing that CQ had gone through all the proper channels. It might seem a small fine but it will be recorded. CPF Board said it did not recieved CQ's letters! To oppose the fine ...of course CQ spent much of the time going up and down to argue to the CPF Board with all relevant and neccessary photocopied letters to support the fact that CQ is no longer working and contributing to the Economy..if that make sense!

Finally the CPF Board found all of CQ's correponding letters! Yes! CQ got her S$100.00 back hehehe ... but if CQ had worked in Brunei and continued to top-up CQ's SG CPF , it will be a definite YES that CQ has to file the tax return. Anyway CQ did work in Brunei but did not contribute to SG CPF.

Nevertheless, fine or no fine ..CQ still loves her birth hometown :) ...err don't Bruneians love spending $$$ in Singapore??? hehee..

Bruneians are so lucky that they do not have to file income tax return! Wonder what will happen if the people are being taxed from their income?? @*%#^&&#(!
