Take note

Just before noon I was at a Shell petrol station, filling up my Nissan 4WD. Looking out for the shortest queue, I finally was behind a Toyota saloon on the far left end of the petrol station.

Patiently, I waited for my queue and switched off my hand phone. Within a few minutes, my thirsty Nissan 4WD was attended to by a female attendant. I told her to fill up the tank to full.

Then through the windshield of my Nissan, I could see a Shell tanker (see picture) parked up front. I assumed the tanker is refilling the empty underground tanks.

Just then, a burly man dressed in a sun-soaked orange overall suit, appeared from the left side of the tanker and approached the female attendant. His stern looking face, as if he is about to yank some one's neck, seemed to be bothered by my car's presence. As he spoke briefly to the attendant, his right hand was pointing out to my car...hmmm

Shortly, as I was waiting for my change, I asked the attendant why was that man angry. She told me that the particular lane/section I was on, should be closed when there is a tanker parked nearby...ohhh ok :p

I got it. Just as the law states that you are not to smoke, to turn off your hand phones and car engines when you are at any petrol station; it is common sense - not to queue on the lane/section that has a parked tanker nearby - even if it is not temporarily closed. This is to avoid any inevitable incidents or unforeseen circumstances.
