This is quite interesting ...I had been passing by this green patch everyday but didn't notice it was in fact a padi field ...err maybe padi garden would be more appropriate to describe it.
Usually, one will find padi fields on the rural outskirts of the city, like in Labi or on big piece of land. But this one is in the middle of a residential area ...woww! One look, you may think it is on a real farm or kampung.
There is an old hut for resting and guarding the padi garden. A middle aged woman is always there to ensure no trespassers or uninvited guests such as cats or dogs.
There are numbers of make-do 'scarecrows' that help to shoooo away birds. Whether it is legal or not, the owner(s) of this padi garden certainly make use of any available plots of fertile land to grow anything that they can sell for extra income or for their own consumption ...if there's a will, there's a way.
In the background (above picture), you can see luscious greens of banana trees and maybe some corns ...a tiny plantation.
