hmmm do you think this Mat Rempit is lost, gone senile or practising for his motocross competition? lols ..Anyway, it is quite rare to see any Brunei 'made' Mat Rempits on the road.
But a few weeks back, I saw a rider (wouldn't label him a Mat Rempit) was zig-zagging his Kawasaki before making a corner along the exit towards Tungku Highway...it is a dangerous act and his haphazard manner could be fatal to him and other road users.
What is Mat Rempit? The word 'Rempit' is a combination of 'ramp it' ...meaning ramp the throttle. So when you say the two words quickly...it sounds 'rempit'. 'Mat' is a slang term in Malay, refering to a male rider/individual ...if a female, it is referred as 'Minah'. This is common in Malaysia. In Singapore, the rider is usually referred to as 'Mat Motor'. If there is any in Brunei...it could be called "Awang Rempit'? hmmm...
A Mat Rempit is usually involved in illegal street racing or even linked to gangsterism and anti-social activities.
