Once again the Chinese Community welcomes Year of the Rat. The Lunar New Year which dates back from 2600 BC, when Emperor Huang Ti introduced the first cycle of the Chinese zodiac. On the Chinese calendar, 2008 is Lunar Year 4705-4706.
Families get together on the eve with plenty of delicious spreads on the table. Popular dishes include Lucky Yee Sang and Sweet Nian Gao. For others, the lion dance and fireworks are not-to-miss and must-see events.
Wishing All my Chinese Friends a Prosperous and Happy Lunar New Year.
