Am i overweight?

When was the last time had i sweat out? I mean real sweating out! Could be a couple of months a go and i guess my weight must be shooting sky high...lols.

It was an accidental meeting with some health products promoter at a local mall that i knew about my BMI (body mass index). BMI measurement is a kind of formula that icludes the factors of your height and weight to produce a number that determines or estimate the presence of excess body fats. I guess must be the fats under our skin?? With my height at 5'4" and weighing almost 150lbs, i was 'diagnosed' with a BMI that reads 'over-fat' or you can use the term 'overweight'! Yikes!! I may not look that heavy but i would prefer to stay fit, lean and healthy even though my BMI may indicate i am at risk for a certain diseases (na'uzubillah minzalik).

Oh my God! I need to do something. Among my resolutions for 2008 is to age gracefully and that does not mean that my waistline figure should increase to par with my age! lols... Fortunately, last 25 January, Bigboss decided to buy a home treadmill. He, too needed the much sweat out to stay healthy and fit. The 4 horsepower treadmill was delivered to our house the following day...and of course each of us took turns to have our very first in-house sweat ever...lols. Kimchi did the ball rolling and she was really enjoying her walk on the treadmill. Apart from exercising, i guess the food that goes through your mouth does make a difference. Eating healthy food is a must but quantity also plays its role and so does drinking water. But hey! once in a while there's no harm indulging myself in junk food to enjoy the occassion in question...hahahaha Anyway i did lose about 4lbs after my month long balik-kampung holiday last December 2007. Instead of driving, i took the public transport such as the MRT and bus...and of course that includes a lot of walking. So, now i am determined to lose another 20lbs (at least) ...urgghh

Back in time, when i was still in high school, i was really into sports. Softball and basketball were my favorite sports. Nine years of playing softball ('81-'90) has in some ways sculptured my figure into what it is now ...errr except for my tummy lols...well, that must be the after-effect of giving birth (yeah right!) hahaha, i should have done more sit-ups after my confinement period :D. Anyway, in an article that i have read many years ago, said that a person who had been active during their younger years ( from age 18-30) may have accumulated enough bone mass for their old age. Hmmmm this is something enlightening, right?

Well, now that i can 'jog' or 'walk' in my home, i am determined to sweat out to stay fit and looking healthier and younger as i grow old gracefully :) ...care to join me?
