Weekend happenings...

At about 3.45pm on last Saturday, residents in Rimba suddenly experienced an electrical 'cut-off' aka total blackout! And so did most parts of Gadong and other areas like Jalan Kebangsaan, well practically many areas in Bandar Seri Begawan were hit with electrical power failure.

Anyway, we headed back to KB for our weekly visits to my parents-in-law. Sherry and Geerah were already in KB while Mr & Mrs Sam and their entourage arrived much later at night due to the blackout in bandar.

SUNDAY MORNING

Since there were many of us in KB, we decided to have a feast of makan ambuyat! Sherry and BinAzmi did all the marketing.

It was more like a story of four chefs in the kitchen hehehe ...with BinAzmi as the Executive Chef ...the rest of us were lucky that BinAzmi did not turn out as Chef Ramsey of Hell's Kitchen ...lols!

It was fun and there were some hilarious incidents which CQ could not even described in words ..you just got to be there in person to experience all the moments of time in the kitchen with four chefs who have no Michelin stars to their credits!

Each of the chefs were glamorous-ly dressed but with no glitters or any make-ups hehehe ...a no-no in the world of Arab chefs! hahaha ....

Executive Chef BinAzmi showing his skills at few dishes
and style of cooking ..huhu

BinAzmi's Greek chicken ...step one

step two ...testing the chicken's texture. According to BinAzmi the 'paha alum pecah' ~ literally means not cook yet lahhh :)

*drools* for those who loves Greek Chicken

While BinAzmi was busy with his chicken, Sous Chef Mrs. Sam prepared the ambuyat ...wow! So lets learn how to 'tumpahkan' the ambuyat.

CQ don't know why the term 'tumpahkan' is used to make ambuyat because literally 'tumpahkan' means to spill ...hmmm anyway lets follow the short chronicles of ambuyat making.

Put a packet of sago flour into a large bowl. Flatten out those curdled flour ..

Add some water and mix well ..

Then add hot boiling water to the mixture ..needs to be fast :)

Taaaa daaaah ...the ambuyat is ready!

The binjai cacah is a must when eating ambuyat if not no 'kick' or 'umpph'

Ahaaaa ...BinAzmi's fish ready to be grilled
- yummmy yooohhh very fresh kali ah!

Okay ..this is CQ as Chef de partie hahaha
...cutting the kangkong for Mrs. Sam :)

Mrs. Sam frying the kangkong but CQ could not help it looking at her dress-watch ehh -that's glamour when frying ok!

doesn't that tempt you!?

Ohh not forgetting the other Sous Chef - Sherry who made tempoyak udang and grilled ikan Gerongsong. CQ could not take those pictures because CQ was busy running around the kitchen snapping here and there hehehe ...

Look at the food!

BinKhalid and Mdm Tiff were also there to add more happenings :D

the girls - Kimchi, Mira and Geerah enjoying the ambuyat

Ladybiker and Fiq using chopsticks to eat ambuyat!?? hmmm

WOW! Ladybiker brought along her home grown huge mango lah! It is called the Mahathir mango ...hmmm CQ wonder if it got connection with other Mahathirs :)

Guest Chef Mdm Tiff frying banana fritters aka 'pisang goreng'

CQ snap-click at close up view because the banana fritters were almost gone within seconds it was served on the table huhu
...laku ahhh
