Ciliqueen meets the Pharaoh of Egypt

Attending a gala night means you get to dress-to-kill in beautiful outifts and accessories, especially when it is a themed event. Women obviously have a harder time than men finding what gala dress to wear.

Last Saturday night, the International Women's Club (IWC) celebrated their 22nd anniversary at the Jerudong Polo Club. Besides dinner and show, there was an auction of items (sponsored by various companies) of which all proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Brunei Breast Cancer Support Group (BBCSG).

Themed "Movie Icons', I was invited to the wonderful and fun evening. Guess what? I bumped into the Pharaoh of Egypt - alive! and kicking good.. hahaha .. and ohh, he had brought along the last Queen of Egypt - Cleopatra. Among other Hollywood and Bollywood movie icons who came to grace the wonderful evening were James Bond, Brad Pitt, Christine and Don .. who? I was stunned when Angelina Jolie came with her partner - P. Ramlee?? Quite an odd match.. hehe

Committee members rendered some great songs and dances from the movies and one 14-year-old girl named Pei Pei caught my full attention when she sang a Bollywood number with her powerful voice! I wished I could have the courage to dance with her .. hehe. Not forgetting a funny Aunty May injected guests with laughters and smiles while performing her unexpected funny antics.

Hmmm .. did you know that I got a lift home from the Pharaoh himself? LOL

We like to move it, move it ..

Finally Kimchi was freed from the stress of revisions and examinations! So yesterday we had late noon fun watching the new-in-cinema movie Madagascar Escape 2 Africa.

The longer version with song lyrics ...

It was such a hilarious movie that even the group of young children that came to watch with their teachers (or maybe nannies ..??) danced away to the song.

A night out

Last night CQ watched the fourth film in the Indiana Jones series, with Bigboss and Kimchi.

Set in 1957, this action-packed comedy adventure flick has a more older and wiser Indy (Harrison Ford) fighting the Soviet Union agents led by Spalko played by Cate Blanchett.

Before the show starts at 9.30pm, we had a Chinese dinner at one of the supposed-ly high profile restaurant. We ordered hot Szechuan soup, assorted greens sauteed with Szechuan vege, deep-fried chicken in orange sauce and seabass cooked in an asam-like sauce.

Unfortunately, the fish served was NOT fresh! It was so rubbery!! That definitely dampened our dinner spirits! urrggghhhh ..oh yes!! CQ made a complain to the Exec Chef about the fish. It was such a dissapointment because that place was once named a 'leading' ... *sigh* CQ will stop bla bal bla unnecessarily now o_O

p.s. CQ is not posting the food pictures ..sakit hati whaaa

A full day

Today had been a very productive day for me ...and tiring too. As usual after lunch, I would have to clear and clean up my kitchen, besides doing other housekeeping chores :)

While washing up the dishes and my mind was grinding with lots of thinking activities, when my eyes stared in disgust ...almost popped out... upon seeing my 3-cylinder water filter ...ewwww... how could I not seen that it need to be changed hee..hee. It has only been ..what ...errr few months?

Look at that! So filthy and muddy ...yukkks! Then, I was thinking how safe or rather, is our tap water safe? Is it safe to drink straight away from the tap?? Well, judging from the sight of my water filter, I guess (on my personal view) it's not.

Anyway, Brunei water had not been kind to me, especially to my feet. I used to have smooth and soft skin on my soles ...but now my feet needs more attention with lotion. The skin on my feet had gone dry and cracked ..it can be so unsightly though if I forget to pamper my feet with lotion or foot cream.

That's why I prefer to have a month long holidays when I am in Singapore :) because my feet will be back to its old self...smooth and soft. As matter of fact, SG water is soft. As a consolation 'prize' hehehee ...I am glad that it's only my feet has to suffer :D

It was almost three o'clock in the late afternnon when I started to do my ironing. At the same time, I watched a movie called 'Gone baby Gone'.

It has a very sounding storyline on human nature which is very intriguing, I must say. Ben Affleck made his directorial debut based on the novel of the same name by Dennis Lehane. I would suggest 'PG' and your own discretion when viewing with young children, because there are excessive use of the 'F' language. The movie was rated 'R' .

Here's the synopsis of the movie ...with a good ending.

"Patrick Kenzie (Casey Affleck) and Angie Gennaro (Michelle Monaghan) work together as private investigators and are hired to find a 4-year-old girl who went missing from the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston. The media spotlight on the case burns brightly, and the pair are forced to team up with a detective (Ed Harris) and the chief of police (Morgan Freeman) to help solve it quickly. But as the clues start mounting and Patrick and Angie get involved with drug dealers and child abusers, it quickly begins to appear that there's a lot more at stake here than just one missing little girl."

What's more disturbing is that it is happening in real life...in a so called civilised society. And the thought of the two little girls from the neighbouring country, who went missing last year ...One was found dead (she was said to be brutally murdered) and the second girl is still missing. These young girls are just among thousands of other children worldwide that had been missing or vanished without any trace or leads.

How could one be so cruel as to commit this beastly and inhumane act especially to young children?

Well...I rest my case ..it's too painful to talk about it :(
